All systems go for 2013 Asia-Pacific Regionals

The road to the World Series continues for many hopeful District Tournament winners in the Asia-Pacific Regional Tournament. This year the Philippines will be hosting all nine divisions of baseball and softball at the Clark Freeport Zone from June 30 to July 8.

There are several firsts in this tournament:

  1. It is the first time that all Little League divisions will play a tournament at the same time and same place. This will allow boys and girls of all ages to watch the games of their older or younger countrymen.
  2. It is the first time that the 50/70 division will be played at the Asia-Pacific Regional level. This special division is for children 11-13 with 50 foot pitching distances and 70 foot base paths, thus the term 50/70.
  3. It is the first time that the Asia Pacific Regions (known as ASPAC) will include countries from the Middle East. Participating this year are Saudia Arabia and United Arab Emirates. Jordan, Kuwait and Qatar may participte next year.
  4. It is the first time that Little League powerhouse Chinese Taipei will be joining Big League Baseball.

A total of 47 teams and 800 athletes will be competing over the week long tournament to determine the representative of the Asia-Pacific region to the World Series in the United States of America in August. The Asia-Pacific region boasts two current World Series Champions: Japan in Little League Baseball and the Philippines in Big League Softball.

As hosts, the Philippine Little League parents and volunteers together with our local hosts Clark Development Corporation will do their best to make Little League More Fun in the Philippines.
